The man accused of killing his brother-in-law, Feilding farmer Scott Guy, will reappear in court today as the judiciary works towards setting a trial date.
Ewen Kerry Macdonald, 30, will appear in the High Court in Palmerston North before Justice Alan MacKenzie.
He is charged with murdering 31-year-old Guy, who was shot in his driveway early on July 8 last year.
It was nine months before police arrested Macdonald over the death.
Macdonald is married to Guy's sister Anna, with whom he has four young children.
Guy's widow Kylee has two young children, the couple's three-year-old son Hunter and one-year-old son Drover, born five months after his father's death.
