Tourism New Zealand has teamed up with MTV and three talented Kiwi music acts for a new series of ads to air in Australia.
The ads aim to give a more hip approach to the traditional advert to New Zealand.
As style icons Scribe, the Mint Chicks and Liam Finn could not be more different. But the acts have teamed up to show New Zealand in a unique light – by sharing their favourite Kiwi spots.
All three have a large following across the Tasman, with the ads aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds and those likely to be visiting New Zealand for the first time.
A New Zealand director, Miki Magasiva of Curious Film, was behind all the ads. He worked closely with the musicians including Finn – whose ad launched over the weekend.
“I found it really exciting and good, because it was different to other ads I had worked on,” he says.
The ads won’t appear on New Zealand television, but will be rolled out on MTV’s website.
