The search will resume at first light for a 12-year-old boy feared drowned off Auckland's notorious west coast.
The youngster disappeared after swimming from Bethells Beach to nearby O'Neill Bay, which is considered extremely dangerous.
It's understood he was with his brother who ran screaming for help.
