Reports have emerged suggesting Sonny Bill Williams will turn his back on the All Blacks to play rugby in Japan before returning to the NRL.

Williams is expected to confirm the reports in an announcement tomorrow.

The Sunday News has reported playing for the Japanese Top League's Panasonic club will earn Williams $1.7 million.

His name was listed among registered players for the 2013 season in the Japanese Top League - indicating the deal with the club has gone through.

He’ll reportedly earn another $640,000 when he returns to the NRL to play for the Sydney Roosters, and is expected to pull in another $640,000 with boxing matches throughout the course of the year.

The Sunday News also suggests Williams will not play in this year's ITM Cup, as the Japanese season clashes with the New Zealand domestic competition.
