Waikato police hope the conviction of a man in relation to sexual assaults against children will be vindication for his victims.

The 45-year-old man was found guilty on a variety of charges relating to sexual offences against three young boys in the Hauraki area between 2003 and 2010.

He appeared in the Tauranga District Court yesterday and admitted six charges of sexual connection with a young person. He was convicted on further charges of indecent assault on a young person, sexual conduct with a young person and wilful ill treatment of a child.

Waihi CIB detective Simon Everson says the man had been a caregiver to one of his victims and the others had been visitors at his address on a regular basis.

Mr Everson says he hopes the man’s conviction will encourage others who have experienced sexual abuse to come forward and have confidence in the police.
