Royalties the Government collects from natural resources should be shared with the regions, NZ First says.
Leader Winston Peters has announced his party's royalties for regions policy which would see 25 percent of royalties collected from mining and mineral exploitation stay in the regions the resources came from.
"The Government collected $383 million in royalties in 2011. Under our scheme, $96 million would have remained in the regions," he said.
"It could have been used to help regenerate regional New Zealand by expanding job opportunities and building a sound economic base."
Mr Peters says the Government is ignoring the regions which face economic ruin.
