Labour leader David Shearer starts a series of regional visits on Tuesday when he goes to Christchurch.
Mr Shearer, chosen by the Labour caucus to replace Phil Goff after the November 26 election defeat, will have visited most parts of the country by the time Parliament resumes on February 7.
He said after he became leader that he wanted to listen to voters and learn what Labour needed to do to win the next election in 2014.
In Christchurch Mr Shearer will meet residents and city officials to discuss the challenges they face with earthquake reconstruction.
Labour's 34 MPs will hold an all day caucus meeting in Taupo next Wednesday to discuss strategy for the next session of Parliament.
