Shia LaBeouf, who won 2008's Rising Star Award

Shia LaBeouf, winner of 2008's Orange Rising Star Award, announced this years nominees on Thursday at a ceremony in London.

The nominees, which are selected by a jury, led by producer and chair of BAFTA, David Parfitt, include Michael Cera, Noel Clarke, Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Hall and Toby Kebbell.

The award is said to recognise five international actors who have "demonstrated exceptional talent and have begun to capture the imagination of the public as a star in the making."

Nominee Toby Kebbell, who starred in Guy Ritchies RocknRolla, was at today's ceremony. "You win either way," he said, "you win just by being nominated because you get associated with BAFTA which is phenomenal so it's an honour whatever the competition is."

A sentiment shared by fellow British actor Noel Clarke who starred in and directed Adulthood.

All nominees must have appeared in a film that has been entered for the BAFTA film awards, and will have a number of screen credits already to their name.

The award is voted for by the public by text and online and announced at the BAFTA ceremony on Sunday, February 8.
