Shots fired near White House

Streets have been closed in Washington DC after shots were fired and a police chase occurred near the White House.

Constitution Avenue is shut between 15th and 17th Street’s.

Reports emerging at this stage say an AK-47 was recovered from a Honda vehicle abandoned by the shooting suspect and a second vehicle was involved.

The Washington Post says shots were fired south of the Executive Mansion, possible between the Ellipse and the Washington Monument.

A WTOP Radio reporter says there are no injuries and so far no one is in custody.

Barack and Michelle Obama are reportedly in California.
