McDonald's

McDonald's has been criticised for restricting access to GLBT websites on its free wi-fi in Wellington. Some argue this is discrimination while others say it is more to do with a firewall filtering out keywords linked to adult material. Should McDonald's make GLBT websites available?

Hahahahaha i think this is dumb to argue over. Bascically by them restricting any group is discrimination, however, some restrictions are definatly needed and complusary. Then there is the question of why gay sites. yes some can be hardcore, probably not gay sites really..., but the rest of the web is made up of hetrosexual sites....why pick on the gay ones?

The website contains sexual content that maybe offensive to some viewers... Just like a heterosexual site would be to some viewers... Gay rights why should they have different rights to everyone else???

What people view on their own personal computers is nobody elses business. McDonalds may however be concerned if people viewing those sites were using up all the bandwidth.

It's their network, let them be. It's time the sensitive in the community started to look at themselves and perhaps then they'll come up with a solution - why don't some of the LGBT establishments now start offering free WIFI - oh, that's right, they're too close minded to think of that. ps. I'm gay

Why not have free wi-fi at the gay drop in centres and leave my kids eating drinking and playing areas alone, Good on ya Ronald!

The discrimination by minority groups against the majority is my greatest concern. I have no issue with how anybody chooses to be, until such time as they demand that they be allowed to dominate the wishes of the majority. If you choose to be different, I applaud your individuality, but do not insist I accept your beliefs and do not seek to dominate the majority.

People that use a free service then bitch and complain how hard done by they are are the most annoying kind. McDonalds are providing a free sevice so they have full rights to block what they class as unsuitable web sites. If you don't like it don't use it, it hasn't cost you anything anyway.

I do not like gay people I have met a few as we all have and there seems to be a common thread of behaviour one might call culture that offends me. I do not like religion it offends me in deeper and more profound way than gay people ever could. Mcds should ban god sites and tolerate gay ones, yes I think thats it.

Get a life! It's a free Wifi access. Good on McDonald, they just got free news coverage. I wouldn't have known about their free WIFI had it not from the hoohaa about this. I'm going to McDonalds tomorrow and enjoy the WIFI. BTW, I went to check gaynz.com, the 3rd party ads definitely are not kids friendly at all.
