On August 12, 2012, Val Lott, organizer of the beauty pageant, announced that she was stepping down. Media reports of her having a minor stroke and the constant media accusations led her to take this decision, stating that she wanted a peaceful life and more time with her husband. Lott had been organizing Miss Universe NZ since 2006.

Agree - she should have kept the crown!!! After all shec an not be kept responsible. The organizer is trying to get herself out of a bad situation saying she (Avianca) new - of course she did not!!! Talia is not elibible to participate either!!

Let the girl keep her crown! why should she pay the price for other peoples mistakes. The organizers of the event need to sort out there pageants better. Now they're just making our country look like a joke. The woman organizing it should stand down and let Avianca compete!

What sort of Mickey mouse outfit/organiser organise a competition where people are allowed to enter, but not to win. Nothing against any of the girls, the organiser is a joke. Cannot believe Trump will allow this woman to organise any competitions again.

my cousin competed in this years pageant and i have to say it pisses me off, having paid $60 to go and watch what we thought was a fair pageant, just to find out that it was not all above board. i dont think avianca should lose the crown but val lott should be severly reprimanded if not fired

Yes she should lose the crown, She is not a Kiwi and I am sure there are many beautiful intelligent Kiwi Citizen's that could have won not someone expecting NZ immigration to fast track her status.

Miss universe is a whole lot of waste of money time. Whats the point in having it when judges are Fakes and Phony's and wouldnt have a clue what they are doing. The winner should be proud of what she has achieved but should stand down as she is not a NZ citizen but its not her fault

why should she care if she loses the crown now, she still came first and everyone knows... so just flick the crown back and just go along your life knowing you beat all the other girls, and who ever is next in line for the crown will still feel like second place anyway coz she wasnt chosen first...
