went to sting concert on sat show very good.absolute chaos round mission tent thousands queing for alcohol and food, was quite frightening at times for those that where sitting around that area, very badly organized.they put on byo ban, sell thousands of tickets and put the one mission tent(the same as they have every other year)up,what were they thinking! And trying to get onto the main road(in coach)CRAZY we go to mission every year, if this is what it is going to be like we wont be going again.Need to be better organized for next year.

This will be my first year there so although I wont miss the BYO as such I do think it is ridiculous to remove the BYO rule. Police stated that 10 arrests were made at last years concert- out of 25,000 people. I dont think that is a huge cause for concern. People will still be allowed to purchase as much alcohol as they wish. So basically- you can still drink yourself into oblivion.....its just going to cost you more.

We are an accommodation provider in Napier we won't take Mission Concert people. They tend to consist of middle-age Kiwis that want to spend the whole day getting p*ssed then stagger back loudly, waking all the other guests & vomiting in their room.

Why change a model that's working? Most people who go to these concerts are adults as it's targeted at an older audience so they can't say irresponsible drinking is the reason for the ban. It's just blatant money grabbing.

I go every year but won't be going now that I can't take my own alcohol. I have flights, accommodation and tickets and now they want to sting me with having to pay outrageous prices for their alcohol?

It's probably because they intend to make more money with a full liquor licence than a BYO licence. Money talks
