No way. Keep things as they are. Just because we have one pearler doesn't mean that is continue every year from now on.Anyway it would be far too complex and difficult to change. If the main reason Peter Dunne suggested for making a change was hot school class rooms it would be better to provide all schools with solar panels so they could run heat pumps pumps on cool.Futhermore we don't want all New Zealanders on holiday during our peak tourist season. Imagine the stresses and strains in our main tourist centres let alone the greater prices that will be charged there.

From Christmas and into Jan I work in a company where I have no choice but to use my holidays at this time and it suits companies to pack up for the month. Every year the weather has been lousy Dec for the past 5 years Jan it gets better and if we are lucky Feb is a little better. I would rather use my holidays off in Late Jan early Feb what ever the weather but whether this would suit companies I am not so sure of. It's good to split the hols as winter we have so little from June until late Oct and if holidays have been used up because of the Christmas we cannot go away it becomes depressing.

There also has to be a two week break at the Shortest day of the year.

Are we going to change again every year when the weather is different. Climate changes, El Nino, sun hotspots, plant nitrification, localised pollution etc. What nonsense - looks like a TV program filler.

Dont change it. Febs no better than Jan. With coinciding with xmas NZers have big family oriented xmases. Who would come if they dont have a good break at the same time due to school hols. This would kill our way of life and all cos some person wants to change it to see if he can.Kids also are in need of a long break in dec with many falling ill and would not be of any help to make them wait another 6 weeks. Bob Im sure you can but for our families get together dont!

Yes - but of course employers who think the world revolves around them and the most important thing in life is them getting richer at the expense of everyone else will fight this tooth and nail! Which means that it must eventually happen just as job sharing the 4 day week must happen!

There is no reason why you cannot take holidays any time of year apart from the compulsion of many companies to close down for the Christmas break . As the school holidays go to the end of January why not take a break then. Why must we follow like leamings to all go the the holiday destinations at the sametime .Best time to holiday is when everyone is gone back to work .Easier to get accommodation ,lighter traffic and less strain on ammenities .Holidaying with the masses is not a holiday.

I like to take my hols in Feb because of the better weather. Kids are back at school and it's quieter. So I like the way it is now. Good to see you went to MetService and spoke to Dan rather than Weatherwatch.
