The team did the flash mob to raise spirits after their loss at the weekend

Despite a 20-point loss to the Australians at the weekend, the Silver Ferns seemed to be in high spirits in Wellington today, treating crowds outside Te Papa with a flash mob.

The team danced freestyle to the 1990s hit song 'Macarena', and managed to get tourists to join in as well.

Defender Katrina Grant was behind the idea to do the flash mob as part of bringing the team together after their 68-48 loss to Australia’s Diamonds.

It was Australia’s biggest ever win over the New Zealanders.

Shooter Maria Tutaia says it was a good turnout outside Te Papa and was glad people joined in.

“It is a physical dance but we’re athletes and we are up for a challenge, and I thought it went alright.

“A few of the girls will be getting rubs at the moment because it was quite strenuous on our bones,” she joked.

The Silver Ferns play England tomorrow night.

Although the ferns are hurting it is great to see they are puting the past behind them. Go NZ Ferns when they next meet the Diamonds.
