Sir Ed's Remuera house is on the move today to a new location in Otara.
The Auckland home was built in 1956, and will now be taken to Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate where it will be used as a leadership centre.
Auckland businessman Terry Jarvis gifted the house to the school after buying the property for $1.5 million dollars in March last year.
School Commissioner Gail Thomson says the journey will take some time.
Ms Thomson hopes the facility will be used by the whole community not just the students at Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate.
