Supergroove once had a hit with the song sitting inside my head, and now an Auckland artist is hoping the idea will prove just as popular with gallery goers in the capital.
The last exhibition by Auckland based artist Rohan Weallean raised eyebrows because it was photographs of scantily clad women, so in his latest work he's gone the other way, creating something very manly.
Taking an old prop from Xena Warrior Princess and slapping some paint on it wasn't enough for artist Weallean,
He wanted to get inside its head - literally
“I see this as a kind of James Bond arctic love nest,” he says.
The giant head or as Weallean calls it "psychosis chamber of the oracle" includes a white rug, some crystals and a fortune telling Bratz doll.
“Be careful what you ask her,” he says. “You might not want to know the answer.”
Luckily there are 49 other works in Weallean's latest exhibition Apocalyptic Intuition including a giant sculpture of a wizard.
“Art can be anything and this is quite conservative really...I think,” he says.
Wellingtonians can decide that for themselves when the exhibition opens at the city gallery tomorrow.
