Six months have passed since Christchurch woman Tisha Lowry disappeared and police still have no idea what happened to her.

The 29-year-old was last seen when she waved goodbye to her grandfather on September 25 at the Bower Tavern in suburban New Brighton.

"I believe she did get home that afternoon but what happened after that we do not know," Detective Senior Sergeant Virginia Le Bas said.

"However, someone does and we would like to bring some closure for her family."

Police had spoken to more than 3000 people, but did not know whether a crime had been committed or what happened to Ms Lowry, she said.

"This lack of finality is extremely difficult for the family. To lose someone you love and not know what has happened is terrible for all concerned."

Police staff who had worked on the inquiry told her they still thought about it every day, Ms Le Bas said.

She asked anyone with information to call police.

Ms Lowry's mother Tayna and her sister Leanne planned to visit the Bower Tavern carpark this morning with Ms Le Bas.
