This is just sick. I feel soo sorry for the dogs, not only because they were killed but also because of the poor conditions they were living in. All 3 men are to blame, Mendoza and Campbell for shooting them, but also Hargreaves for not giving them the proper lifestyle they deserve. Dogs are there to be your friends, and you shouldn't have that many dogs when you know you can't take care of them. I hope that Mendoza and Campbell get locked up for this, but I also hope that Hargreaves isn't allowed any animals. Its not fair on the animals.
The real prick is the dogs owner Hargreaves, who let this number of dogs build up, and if this had not happened there would now probably be about 49 dogs now. I hope the SPCA are watching what he does with the puppies thar survived. Will they become his new unregistered in-breed stock?
This made me tear up and hurt inside my heart !! Im a spca worker and take in rescue dogs .. sadly we cannot save all of them but we try our hardest i cryed seeing this on the news the all the blood !! Horror ! The terror the dogs would of gone throu trying to get outta harms way but no where to run IS SICK !! the egg who shoot them SHOULD be jailed and MADE to do time for his crime !! ITS A CRIME NO MATTER WHAT IT WAS BLODY OVER AND WHO SIGNED A NOTE !! nO ANIMALS DESERVE THIS AT ALL !! prick !
It's totally sickening, it makes me cry when I think of how scared and hurt these animals were before they died, it's torture. The comment "whether anyone will be charged" is just wrong, someone should be charged they have senselessly killed and tortured other beings. Animals have every right to exist on this planet and be treated fairly possibly more then us considering the detrimental effect we have on our environments. How about we have them stuck in a cage and fire guns at them and terrify them with their impending death.... It's wrong no? They need to be locked up this wasn't just one dog either it's a total slaughter. I've been supporting paw justice in the hopes we can give animals a voice and this is exactly why, it's so sad it's just too little to late. Come one Kiwi govt and police what are you doing these guys should not get away with such cruel and less then human acts against animals they feel are less then them. That signed note proves they knew what they were doing, personally I'd rather be shot myself then let someone slaughter my pets.
LOCK THEM UP!!! Cruelty in this country is so high that justice needs to be done. Just because they're animals doesn't mean that you have the right to take their lives and not be punished for it. Animals don't have a voice, we do! You don't take the law into your own hands without evidence, and saying so it's up to the Animal control to take control of the situation. These guys need to be sentenced maybe a year per dog? It's not ok to kill a human but ok to kill innocent animals?! I don't think so. This country needs to work together and help fight against Animal Cruelty, and maybe some decent judges to serve properpunishments in this country. There's likely a lot more to come out in this story, especially with regards to the actions of the dogs' owner. In the meantime I am appalled at the suppositions voiced by the SPCA, and media, using words like "frenzied" and emoting about the terror of dogs waiting to be shot. Is this the same organisation that presided over the shooting of neglected standardbred horses in Auckland? Remember the video of a foal pawing at his mothers' carcass. She must have been shot in front of him, and I suspect he was left alive for a suitably emotive photo. As for the fools offerring Mr Hargreaves more pups, that's a great idea guys. What goes through your heads..."I've got a doggie that needs a home, gee, I'll give it to a guy who lives in a car in a quarry with nearly 40 unregistered dogs." at least it will guarantee him company, the council officers will likely be targeting his place for unregistered dogs. Use your common sense. To country people who depend on livestock for a living, uncontrolled dogs (and dumped and feral cats) are just another kind of vermin. And that's not peculiar to New Zealand. As for the numbers Killed, it's a drop in the ocean compared to the SPCA's and Councils' tally. These dogs are the victims here, but they were likely doomed from when the owner let their numbers build up. As for shooting as a method of destroying a dog, I've shot some of my old mates over the years, when they were too stiff to climb into their bed or enjoy their tucker. They died sucking up a bowl of gravy. Hope someone does the same for me when I'm too far gone. Shotguns are messy, but they are final if used close up. A .22 would be more normal for the job.
I personally am weary about people who would in anger massacre anything. What happens when the anger is aimed at a person. I too would probably sign a paper if two people came to me with a shotgun. As for the animals, no animal deserves to be put through any such stress and what gives these two the right to take the law into their own hands as there is a process that they could have gone through. I agree that it is down and out murder and should be treated as such,these two must be acountable for their actions before a court of law.
Mendoza and his friend went on a shooting spree alleging that his dog got done by mr hargreaves dog and does not have circumstantial evidence except speculation becos he had 39 dogs. That has ramifications accusing another dog without evidence and taking a letter and entering mr hargreaves property, and getting gim to consent to kill all 33 of his dogs for the life of his foxterrier. You are completely insane mr mendoza you and your friend. You had no authority or jurisdiction to do as you both did.You were out to get revenge and using force to get what you wanted, yous accomplished your mission and murdered those 33 dogs. After all that you think anyone is going to support your cowardly and disgusting murderous actions and allow you to get away with this. If the SPCA does not action this and dont press charges the system will fail. People will go rampaging and killing innocent animals like yourself and getting away with it.They have to charge you both to put a stop to it, the animals need justice.
