A chain-smoking baby who made headlines around the world has given up his habit in rehab.
Aldi Suganda, 2, is now returning home, but concerns have been raised that he will succumb to temptation and resume smoking.
Aldi smoked up to 40 cigarettes a day and a viral video of him puffing away caused global outrage.
He is from the remote fishing village of Musi Banyuasin, on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
His mother, Diana, felt helpless in her efforts to break her son’s two pack-a-day habit, according to CBS News.
After news of Aldi spread around the world, the local government paid to send both him and his mother to Jakarta for intensive medical and psychological treatment.
As expected, Aldi did not initially respond well to being denied cigarettes – wailing and smashing his head on the floor.
In an effort to limit his nicotine withdrawal symptoms and keep his mind occupied, he participated in play therapy.
Medical tests showed a thickening on the left wall of his heart. However, this was later attributed to his obesity, rather than his smoking habit.
