Some leaky home owners say they'll ignore a $1 billion government assistance package and continue with their plans to sue through the courts.
The package which is available from today offers homeowners up to half of their repair costs to be funded by both central and local government.
They'll need to fund the rest themselves but the Government says it's made that easier too, by entering into a loss sharing agreement with the banks to offer loans.
But advocates say homeowners need to explore their options.
The building and construction minister, Maurice Williamson, is cautioning against legal action, saying legal costs could be greater than the settlement.
