Furious strikers say the government hasn't stood up for their interests

The mining dispute in South Africa has become a major political crisis, and is now the biggest threat that the country’s ruling ANC party has faced since it took power.

A total of 34 miners were shot dead by police when a strike at the Lonmin mine turned into running battles.

Furious strikers have accused the government of betraying them, and failing to stand up for their interests.
