As well as headlining last weekend's Splore music festival, soul superstar Erykah Badu is starring in a new documentary called ReGeneration.

The project couples some of the best producers in the world with singers from different genres to see what they come up with.

Maverick producer Mark Ronson is teaming up with Badu, known as the queen of neo-soul, for the documentary.

He has worked with some of the music's biggest names, but some stars still make him nervous, including Badu.

“There was one point when Erykah came in and everyone was sort of hanging around because they wanted to be there when she walked in but look like they were just accidentally hanging around. And then all the boys get real weak at the knees,” Ronson says.

The unlikely duo are one of five pairs brought together for the film.

In the film, Pretty Lights’ Derek Smith takes country singer Leanne Rimes on an electronic journey, beat-makers Crystal Method work with Motown's Martha Reeves, Skrillrex teams up with members of The Doors to create something new and hip hop DJ Premier collaborates with the Berklee Symphony Orchestra.

And Premier is willing to branch out even more. After being caught up in one of hip hop's biggest battles with "Guru" - the other half of Gang Starr, Premier is not afraid of losing his street cred.

“I would do a Miley Cyrus record. That's not selling out. That's providing another style to what she's already doing or any artist from Justin Bieber on down. It doesn't matter.”
