Starting on Thursday, seven of the world's top ten female squash players will be in Mount Maunganui for the Women's New Zealand Squash Open.

The event is being held in Bayfair Mall, in what is an oasis for sport lovers in a desert of shopping.

The squash court is made up of 42 solid glass panels and took three days and 15 people to erect.

The court has seating for 300 and standing room for 150.

It was trialled last year for the Mount Maunganui Festival of Squash, so the locals are getting used to this new kind of window shopping.
