Auckland's St Matthew’s in the City church has had its latest controversial billboard vandalised.

The "Gay-Dar" sign proposes to stir up debate on the issue of discrimination against gay and lesbian people in the Anglican Church.

But it was ripped from the board over the weekend.

Vicar Glynn Cardy is keeping an open mind:

“It may have been just a drunk in town, or maybe someone who disagrees with our views about homosexuality. I’m not sure, you never can tell in these situations,” says Vicar Cardy.

The church once had paint thrown over a Christmas billboard depicting Joseph and Mary in bed together.

Its "Mr Cardy". Vicar is a position, not a title.
