Way back in 1976 Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in Rocky, a film that would define boxing movies for decades to come.
Now 35 years later we have six Rocky movies and soon the musical.
In a sea of camera flashes, it wasn't the news we were expecting to hear.
“I have always seen Rocky as a kind of a musical in a way,” says Stallone.
But the more you think about it, the more it makes sense.
“The music in Rocky is always so important. The way they moved is very rhythmic and I thought it was also very much like West Side Story, because even though the men are fighters it is really a romance, it's a love story.”
Stallone says Rocky the Musical will open in Hamburg this time next year.
Co-producing the musical are the Klitschko brothers who are both Ukrainian heavyweight champs.
“When I have seen the Rocky movie I became an absolute fan from Sylvester. He was my hero and of course he gave me big motivation for boxing, to be as tough as him,” says Vitali Klitschko.
As to whether it will be any good, who knows?
Fans online have been yearning for a musical for years, keeping themselves happy by coming up with their own.
“And I am extraordinarily flattered and emotionally moved and that is kind of hard to do, because we live long and we have seen so much. It is hard to get emotional over anything. But this moves me!” says Stallone.
Sly didn't really look moved, so we'll have to take his word for it.
And really, what could go wrong with these three making a musical?
