Aerosmith star Steven Tyler has confirmed reports he's going solo after recording what he thinks is the ultimate summer anthem.

The rocker is enjoying a popularity boost thanks to a stint as a judge on American Idol and he's making the most of his success by releasing ‘(It) Feels So Good in May’.

He says, "I can hear it coming out of people's cars this summer."

It's Tyler's second solo effort in less than a year - in November he released ‘Love Lives’, the theme song for a Japanese film, titled Space Battleship Yamato.

His daughter Liv Tyler recently referenced her dad's new summer song, revealing he played it to her while driving around the Hollywood Hills.

She said, "We were driving through the Hills in his fancy sports car with the top down... He was blasting me his new single; it's amazing and beautiful."

But Tyler is not planning to record an album of solo material - he's back in the studio with his Aerosmith bandmates recording a follow-up to 2004's Honkin' on Bobo.

The video accompanying Tyler's new song will debut on an upcoming Idol episode.
