Musical legend Sting is to bring his Symphonicity tour to New Zealand to perform at the Mission Estate Concert early next year.
Sting – accompanied by a 50-piece symphony orchestra and band – will play at New Zealand’s biggest annual concert on February 12, 2011.
The performance will follow already-sold-out shows across North America and Europe and feature his greatest hits, reinvented for symphonic arrangement.
Selections, especially created for this tour, will include ‘Every Little Thing She Does is Magic’, ‘Roxanne’, ‘Next To You’ and ‘Every Breath You Take’.
Sting will be joined by a group of notable musicians including his longtime guitarist Dominic Miller.
During his career he has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and been awarded 16 Grammys, two Brits, a Golden Globe and three Oscar nominations.
General admission tickets cost $110 – plus booking fee and GST – and go on sale from 12pm today to members of the Mission Concert Club.
Tickets for the general public go on sale 9am Saturday.
One change this year is that fans will not be able to bring their own alcohol into the venue, as the organisers are no longer able to get a BYO licence for the event.
