Stormy weather is expected to continue tomorrow for much of the country.
Winds will strengthen tomorrow and Thursday in the South Island, according to WeatherWatch.co.nz.
Severe gales are expected in places, with winds likely to strengthen significantly around the Catlins and coastal Otago. Banks Peninsula in Canterbury may also see strong winds.
More snow is forecast across the lower South Island and the Southern Alps, and is likely to fall on the Desert Road in the North Island.
Wellington will continue to get winds from the west and north-west tomorrow before they swing southerly from Thursday.
Earlier today WeatherWatch warned of squally showers for the Auckland and Waikato regions.
