The president of the Otago University Student Association will lock himself in a cage to protest a new Parliamentary bill that proposes to strip the body of compulsory payments from students.
Logan Edgar will enter the cage on the Union Lawn at 7pm this evening and won't emerge until Wednesday or "until John Campbell turns up", he told NZPA.
"The Government hasn't listened to the 98 per cent of submissions that opposed the bill," says Mr Edgar.
Opponents of the bill say it will strip students of services many find useful in their time at university.
The OUSA says if the bill is passed, the organisation's days are numbered.
