Some of the students who trashed the common room at Hamilton's Hillcrest High School have offered to pay for the damage caused by the alcohol-fuelled rampage.

About 80 students were caught by a cleaner at the school last Wednesday night after using a key to gain access to the room.

Hillcrest High principal Kevin Whiting says some of the students involved have come forward and admitted they were there on the night and have offered to pay for the damage.

I would like to know exactly how bad they damaged the room and how come so many of them were on school premises at that time of the evening.

If only payment is agreed upon it will once again be today's usual soft justice for pleading guilty to the obvious. Of course there will be no effort made to find the many other idiots. The only way to restrict crime is FEAR - not petting!
