In a year in which stars either died, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze, or fell from grace; Tiger Woods, or lip synced; Britney Spears; Susan Boyle was the good news story of 2009.

She was Cinderella in a size sixteen frock; an old fashioned triumph of talent and spirit and this jaundiced old world loved her for it.

Her album I Dreamed a Dream is now the fastest selling debut album by a female artist in history.

What a ride.

Very early this morning, Campbell Live spoke to her proud big brother, Gerry Boyle, about a wonderfully mad ten months for the Boyle family.
