TVNZ are investigating allegations about staff drug use at Waitangi

Staff from Television New Zealand are under investigation after they were alleged to have smoked marijuana at Waitangi celebrations.

The allegation was in a complaint laid against an item about activist Dakta Green's "Cannabus" which screened on Close Up earlier this week.

The complaint said four staff were believed to have used the drug after the day's filming had been completed, the New Zealand Herald reported.

It said there were photos of the staff smoking cannabis.

TVNZ spokeswoman Megan Richards confirmed an investigation was under way. She would not say how many staff were involved.

Mr Green said he was aware of complaints made by members of the National Organisation for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (Norml) about the Close Up item.
