Sean Davidson loved his mum, as did so many others.

Dr Patricia Fergusson was a GP and a psychiatrist, and greatly admired in the communities where she worked.

Then, in her eighties, she got sick herself - terminally ill.

Dr Sean Davidson came home from his job in South Africa to care for her.

He has written about it in his book Before We Say Goodbye.

It is a very moving encounter of watching someone die, and helping her as well as he could – but not as well as he would have liked to.

John Campbell talks to Sean about his mum.
