Tactix keen to play spoiling role

Out of trans-Tasman netball league play-off contention, Canterbury Tactix will continue to hunt an upset win in their last two games.
Mired at the bottom of the table, Canterbury Tactix still have a role to play as the trans-Tasman netball league enters its final few weeks.
Captain Maree Bowden says her team, which notched up just their second win of the season last week, are hunting a high-profile scalp in their last two matches.
Sunday's game against third-placed Northern Mystics could be their best chance, with their final match a challenging encounter against competition leaders Adelaide Thunderbirds.
"We can play the spoiling role," Bowden told NZ Newswire.
"Although we're not pushing for a play-off spot, we're definitely not looking towards next year yet.
"These next two games are an opportunity, and it would be great to upset one of the top teams. We're not taking our foot off the pedal one bit."
But with the Mystics hurting after a 46-48 loss to Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic last week, Bowden admits her team will have to be at their very best to have any chance of pushing the Auckland-based franchise.
"There's no doubt the Mystics will be a tough challenge," Bowden said.
"They've got an impressive line-up, but I feel like they haven't played to their potential yet and that's what they'll be looking for."
Key to reining in the Mystics will be an improved court-wide defensive effort from the Tactix, as they look to generate turnovers in an effort to stop the ball reaching shooter Cathrine Latu.
Shooting at over 97 per cent, Latu has built a formidable combination with fellow Silver Fern Maria Tutaia at goal attack.
With the Tactix lacking height in their defensive circle, Bowden says the rest of the team need to stem the flow of ball into Latu with pressure on every pass downcourt.
"We need to make sure that when we have the ball, we're securing it and making the most of that possession."
