Talent2's CEO speaks to Campbell Live

For the past five weeks Campbell Live has been looking at the Ministry of Education's payroll system Novopay, provided by Australia-based company Talent2.
We've taken you to schools throughout New Zealand, detailing too much pay, too little pay, no pay, and pay going to teachers completely unknown at the schools they were meant to be working at.
We have received emails detailing many hundreds of such cases, and most of the schools involved have spoken of extra work, extra cost, and extra stress trying to sort things out.
Tonight Campbell Live talks to the CEO of Talent2, John Rawlinson, over from Australia to talk to the Ministry, his own staff, and now you.

This is beyond a joke now. I finally received SOME of the money I am owed from Novopay, only to find they have messed up my tax and student loan payments. I am now short money that I cannot claim until the end of the tax year!!!

And yes I would be sure that every school in Aotearoa has had ,if not, twenty issues maybe even more, that they have not caused by entering data but have been caused due to a bl.... useless and inadequate contractor appointed by yet a more inadequate Ministry.

@Also a taxpayer: couple of thoughts for you. 1. How come we'd never heard about this "horribly flawed previous payroll"? In fact, the only time we've heard about it is when people have been longing for a return to this "horribly flawed previous payroll" in favour of the irreparably flawed new payroll system. And they hardly have a bad word to say about the old system. 2. When do you predict "the end" will be. I think what "the end" will look like will be considerably different to what you are predicting, if you really believe that taxpayers like you and I will be happy with the outcome. 3. As a taxpayer, I'd be delighted to hear more about these "enormous amounts of money" that will be saved. Please post full details of the accurate ROI so that we can all understand what you know.

A word to ALSO A TAXPAYER. It wasn't really important that most people understood the complexity of the MOE payroll takeover by Talent-less2. It was ABSOLUTELY important that the blokes from the company winning the tender understood though? Kiwis have got every right to be brassed off.They've secured a NZ govt contract worth millions based on the assumption THEY knew what they were doing and everything was cool.Clearly not the case and the last thing people want to be doing,is looking to make partial scapegoats of the staff affected. Marginalizing the problems, stress and wasted work hours,.. that isn't going to resolve the issues is it? Talking about the smaller percentage of affected staff is just another way of dismissing the severity of the blunders by the Novopay system. Ignoring their COMPLETELY INADEQUATE responses to the multitude of situations they've created. NZers shouldn't be asked to be patient and have some understanding. These muppets can't pay themselves out of a paper bag. They should be replaced after they've fixed the mess and earnt themselves a holiday....(without pay might be)...

Why did you back off asking him about NZ Post? Talent2 have been doing NZ Post payroll for past 2 years as well and they are still having LOADS OF PROBLEMS! How dare anyone accuse staff for inputting errors - how can this be so high? The ongoing issue is errors not being fixed this pay, and having to wait another 2 weeks to see if it will be fixed in the next pay, to wait and see if it will be fixed next pay... all the Novopay supporters should ring any school, anywhere in NZ and ask the payroll people how things are! then they might change their views! it's only a small % that are making the news....

Payroll people have to be organised, efficient and accurate due to the nature of their job - so unlikely it would be them.
There are plenty of large companies who get payroll right, right from the start, with hardly any errors. Just not Talent(?)2

Kia ora I am an administrator at a school(staff of only 12) and what a load of b.... s.... Talent2 of course, would have to be in denial for all the errors because being the company our own Ministry thinks is good enough to run the biggest payroll in Aotearoa, you would look pretty stupid admitting to all the issues that they are creating. As an administrator for our school I am not in tears or stressed,rather it has become a daily ritual ringing novo first thing in the morning for at least three to four hours of my day. Why should we be correcting np mistakes, are they not able to correct their own mistakes with the touch of a button/key. As I am going to Australia on 23rd of December how can I be sure and safe in the knowledge that I will get the money which I am owed for my annual leave, I personally wont be happy as there is no way that i could do anything when Im away on holiday which was planned before NP came on the scene. Those people who think that school administrators are entering wrong data just dont have a clue as to what data has been entered. There are so many instances that I could mention however due to them being confidential we will not. What a joke thinking that they are going to have everything right for EOY and just think next up is SOY

What a load of rubbish. I met with a payroll aministrator yesterday. She was nearly in tears after spending 2 hours on the phone to Novopay. She was inputting the data correctly and it still came back with errors. Trying to get the EOY pays in is a nightmare. Mr Rawlinson can apologie as much as he likes, because I'm sure his pay arrives on time and correctly. Imagine if the Ministers were on this payroll system as well. I''m sure if they werent getting paid there would be as loud roar. And if telling people they can go to their school and ask for money out of the Ops Grant!! Well that wouls be great if schools could afford to do it! It's a bloddy joke!!!
