Great stories about the quake. Each story is a different view about what happened. Keep up the good work! It was scary enough here in Timaru, I can only imagine how stressful all the aftershocks have been. I hope people there find peace and calm in their lives soon...

I have grave concerns about what we are being told and what is happening with our heritage buildings. From my understanding one has already been demolished without going through the proper procedures, This is unacceptable practice and should not be happening. I understand we have had a earthquake and some of these places are not safe, but there is more than one way to make them safe until we as the rate payers of Christchurch have agree with council how best to deal with these buildings. I feel those who have not followed procedures should be prosecuted and people like our mayor Bob Parker should also be held accountable for allowing this to happen. We as a city need to stand up and say slow down and lets think carefully about keeping our heritage. Whats more I feel a governance should be place on all heritage buildings/ sites to only allow reconstruction of our heritage builds that have been demolished or are needing to be.
