The owner of one of Auckland's biggest taxi companies is worried his 240 drivers may be forced to stop work on Monday.
Taxis were given until August 1 to install security cameras and panic buttons, but Discount taxis got an exemption until this coming Monday.
Owner Alan Webster says his Government-approved cameras from China still aren't working properly, and the panic buttons from Australia are being held up.
He's applying for another extension, saying there's no way they will meet the criteria by Monday.
Mr Webster says suppliers are travelling to China to try to identify the problem with the cameras.
