Taylor Swift says she “just loved” reading books as a child.
The 22-year-old songstress voices the character of Audrey in upcoming animated feature Dr Seuss’ The Lorax.
Participating in the film adaptation of the famed American author’s book is an honour for Taylor.
The star was deeply inspired by Dr Seuss’ work when she was younger.
“When I was growing up, I'm pretty sure that was my first exposure to poetry,” Taylor told E! Online at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie. “And I just loved it.”
Whitney Houston, who passed suddenly on February 11, also proved to be a major source of inspiration for Taylor in her youth.
“I was a huge fan of Whitney,” Taylor shared. “And I was also a fan of her spirit. She was always smiling and I just always felt like she was relatable.”
Taylor’s career is flourishing at the moment.
Although she recently missed on a role in a Hollywood adaptation of the classic musical Les Misérables, the star is still optimistic about her acting prospects.
“Things sometimes don't happen and it happens all the time, that things don't come together,” Taylor said. “But the thing about my life is that everybody seems to know all these different versions of stories that may or may not be true.”
Dr Seuss’ The Lorax will be released in the US on March 2.
