Good item John, shame you had to bring up amount of 'holidays' teachers get.

Hi John, I was not happy with Ian's "answer" about how much holiday teachers have. The holidays come at a dear price! We have to ask other professions how many FREE weekends they have along the year? Because a teacher has two free weekends for 10 working weekends, preparing their next week lessons/marking/reporting/preparing trips' paper work...not taking into account the Saturday game( soccer, rugby, tennis, etc) and every night "overview" of tomorrow lessons...Hey, is there anybody interested to switch into this "holiday job"?...I forgot to tell you I am a teacher who was an engineer...

To Air NZ Can you please have domestic specials for teachers as well during the school holidays. My daughter would love to have come up with her two toddlers from the South Island to visit family but the cost of airfares was prohibitive (over $1,200.00) for domestic flights.

A lot of parents take advantage of the deals and just take their kids out of school.

hi john.
Im a HARD working teacher...been up writing school reports since 7:30am this morning...thats 12 hours.
Worked it out once that If I worked 8 hours a day, I would work 54 weeks a year.
So how about cutting us guys some slack with the "all those holidays" crack...sick of bloody hearing it!
Also Im a parent...want to have a go at someone...have a go at our dealy beloved minister (Ann Tolly)...NOT!!!
Bloody national standards...try putting a square peg into a round hole and that about sums it up.
If she wants Hational Standards, then give us a National school report form...maybe then I could actually HAVE a holiday!
Good on ya Air NZ!...need something to make this job worth staying in.
Govt offering teachers 1 1/2 % pay rise but will give themselves 10 %.
Now surely THATS something your programme should look at...Police 2 % and Nurses the same...criminal!

It's not only teachers, but also families with school children that can only travel in school holidays as well.
