A man has been accused of price fixing on TradeMe, with the Commerce Commission reminding online sellers they are not beyond the reach of the law.

Ernie Travers of Massey in Auckland was selling LED bike lights when the Commission received a complaint that he had emailed a competitor, suggesting they fix the price.

Mr Travers denied emailing the other seller, but has been issued a formal warning by the Commerce Commission.

General Manager of Enforcement Kate Morrison says TradeMe users should be aware any attempt to lessen competition will be viewed seriously.

the little guys price fixing is real problems that the commerce commission deals with. Or do you support people breaking the law as long as they are the "little guys"?

If tips are needed for price fixing, petrol companies and electricity suppliers are running courses on how to do it properley and get away with it..
