Teenage sensation Lydia Ko to play New Zealand Open

Kiwi teenager Lydia Ko, after stunning the golf world on Sunday when she became the youngest player in the world to win a professional golf tournament, has confirmed as a starter in the New Zealand Open at Pegasus, Christchurch.

Ko took out the New South Wales Open at Oatlands with a four shot victory at just 14 years of age.

The tournament tees of on February 17 and today the freakish golf player will play a practice round at Royal Pines on the gold coast with another golf sensation, American golf sensation, Lexi Thompson (16).

The pair has a hectic three weeks ahead of them as they prepare for the event – playing the Australian Ladies Masters at Royal Pines, and the Australian Open in Melbourne next week, an event co-sanctioned with the LPGA Tour and which has attracted the cream of the world's players.

Ko, originally from Korea, will continue to represent New Zealand.
