A glitch with one of TelstraClear's international partners saw around 200,000 customers experience slow internet this morning.
Around 6:45am access to some sites was compromised, an issue fixed around 8:20am, though some people may still be experiencing problems.
"What was happening was it seemed people trying to get on to those websites were being routed via routes they would not normally go on, so they were experiencing high latency," spokesperson Diane Robinson told Fairfax NZ News.
Not all web browsing was affected, the company says.
