The New Zealand International Arts Festival opens on Friday with a big bang, The Big Bang.
It's the name of a free outdoor spectacular kicking off the festival.
It's being put together by bands Strike and Kora, and involves a mass choir and over 200 young drummers from South Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Ten of the drummers have come from Rarotonga, handpicked in the villages to join the Kiwi kids.
And for them, this is something really special.
Whena Owen was awaiting their arrival at Wellington Airport.
