Its so irratating watchng these people crying over thier petty misfortunes,I work 6 days a week to support my family,to get my cupboards looking like hers would take me at least 2 of my wages put together in one week. Please lady, sell your flash tv and buy him some shoes.. It is wrong but she doesnt seem poor to me.

I think everyone is missing the point here...KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE!!!!!!! Without kids where on earth would New Zealand's future be? Yeah sure people are having babies but who are you to judge whether they are having babies for the benefit? What evidence do you have? Just because you THINK your neighbour does, doesn’t mean that ALL women and families who have babies are out solely to get the benefit. You people really make me sick! Some people, especially from a P.I family like the one shown in the picture come to New Zealand with no qualification because MAYBE they had to stay home and care for their sick family members since they don’t have rest homes? MAYBE they had to work in the plantation to ensure their family members were fed? And the consequence? They come to New Zealand try to find a job but NO ONE would hire them. Even for the jobs that don't need the qualification. Without children there will be no need for daycares or schools. No teachers needed. No need to make children’s clothes. No need to make happy meals at McDonalds. No need for baby formulas. See where I'm heading? Everyone in this country plays a huge role in our economy. Just imagine if a child reads this? I’m encouraging my students (intermediate age) to read up on the current affairs and politics and read the comments people leave so they can get a fair idea of what the public feels. I would HATE to be a child currently living in these circumstances...to read all the hate that New Zealand has for them and their families. I want them to be informed with everything going on in politics and the country so they know what is happening in their world. I can tell that people who are being so rude and abusive to these people have NOT lived in their shoes. Maybe you should try it- trust me I know what I’m talking about...my parents struggled with little money. They came to New Zealand with NOTHING! No support from their families living here. We have six kids, Mum studied full time to get a degree and dad stayed with my younger siblings who were too young to start school (we couldn’t afford childcare) when mum came home dad went out and worked from 3.30pm to 12am (my dad doesn’t have a qualification). We would catch fish and God provided plenty for us all with one part time job and a bit if financial help from the government and the natural resources God provided. Now 2 of us are working fulltime with degrees, my brother is studying for a degree and the other three are top students at school, why? My parents made sacrifices. yes it hurt their pride to go asking for money from WINZ (it was for five years) but now we are paying back everything AND more than what we borrowed from the government with three qualified people all working for more than ten years now...do not judge people you have no idea what these children who you are slandering will be doing in the future.

I have worked every day since I was able to get an after school job, I have served my country with pride, I had well paid jobs and paid loads of tax, then I fell pregnant, had a child with high medical fragile needs and the father took off citing "cowardice" as the reason...and so I found myself on a Caring for Sick and Infirm benefit. Remember, this was not on the cards and I never thought this would be a part of my life. Well, now it is. I am so damn tired of being lumped in with bludgers, those who keep on having kids to remain on a benefit. Who go see their friends at WINZ and get mega bucks each week while those of us that RELY on power, phone, car etc struggle daily. And then, god forbid you need something for yourself. Nope. That wont happen. I wanted to study so I could start doing something that I could do at home or the hospital, WINZ said tough, they wont help with the fees, so a 1yr diploma ended up taking me 2 yrs, bless the Institue for being understanding and allowing it. I can do minor, casual things and it has to stay that way until god knows when because we could NOT survive if I had to rely on this work. It is too iffy. So here I am, between a rock and a hard place. I rang up winz the other day as I was spoken to very badly in the office, a lady called me back and ABUSED me, called me ungrateful, grilled me over every cent and then had the NERVE to say "you have a $20 payment going out each week, for a fine is it?" er...No, you B-word, it is for the kind dentist who is letting me pay off my large bill... Dont bash all beneficiaries, some of us are just trying to get by and get those we look after through until such a time as we can get back to work. Although I am thankful we have this CSI benefit, I do NOT appreciate being looked down upon, nor do I appreciate people bagging me for my choices in life when it is none of their business. I am a law abiding citizen, go after the ones who are raking it in. This family has love, not much else, but bless them. Those kids are missing out on their parents really, as are alot of families as the folks have no choice but to work their butts off every second of the day.

bandylegs: don't be ridiculous. without taxpayer support, CHILDREN WOULD STARVE. it is NOT about enabling people to have as many children as they want and fleecing you, or whatever. it is about ENSURING THAT CHILDREN DO NOT STARVE.

Sadly Virginia you are missing the point. This is a country where only 2.5m pay tax> This is where child support comes from, this is where benefit comes from. By all means have as many children as you want just don't expect the taxpayer to support you or your children. I don't have the right to say how many children you have but I do have the right to say I'm fed up with paying for people who continue to have children and expect the taxpayer (me) to pick up the tab. I have a neighbour who has seven kids and takes home more for sitting at home than I do for working 40 hrs a week. By the way its JOHN Key "not JHON. Perhaps education is the first step to putting NZ on the right track.

It is more difficult these days to save for a first home then in 1979 when we bought our first home. My husband's salary was $12000 (above average) and hour first house cost $24000. Now that that salary would probably be say $60000, but you could not buy a house for $120000. However I do notice that young people these days do want everything instantly. All the mod cons - the wanna have and not the necessities. While saving for our first house and paying off our second mortgage we did not have a telephone or television and the only new furniture was a double bed. We always budgeted the necessities on one income and the second income (mine) paid off the second mortgage. Different days but I do think that if you have the will power today you can save for a deposit - maybe takes a little longer but it is possible
