The Dark Knight Rises has become the UK's fastest-grossing film of the year after raking in US$48 million in just 10 days.
The Batman movie, starring Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader, has beaten The Avengers to the box office figure by two days.
Meanwhile, The Dark Knight Rises remains at number one on the UK box office chart after taking US$11.6 million in its second week on release.
The impressive haul crushed the movie's nearest rival, animated Dr. Seuss tale The Lorax, which enters at two with just US$2.96 million, while Ice Age: Continental Drift rounds out the new top three.
Meanwhile, The Dark Knight Rises has become the third fastest film to reach US$300 million globally. It took the movie only 12 days to reach the mark, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Only The Avengers (nine days) and The Dark Knight (10 days) reached the target faster.
