The Gory Details

Thu, 04 Feb 2010 1:06p.m.

Well I’m still alive and in one piece. I still have all my body hair (although I’m not exactly sure that’s such a good thing) and I didn’t end up chained to anything in my underwear.

Gosh us girls get it a LOT nicer then our poor men don’t we!

I am however a bit tired, a bit fuzzy on some of the details and STILL covered in a rash from rolling down a grassy hill about 20 times (don’t ask).

My Bridesmaids put on a great weekend filled with Red, red hearts, games, punch and fun.

We took Mangawhai by storm completing a crazy scavenger hunt for random things such as men’s chest hair and photos in a Fire truck, we drank copious amounts of punch, made homemade pizzas in the outdoor pizza oven- after building the fire all by ourselves! We also got the internally wired stereo to work complete with outdoor speakers AND opened our own jars- turns out us girls can do everything!!

All in all it was a drunken yet classy affair, with some of those awkward sex questions thrown into the mix, especially for me to answer in front of the mums!

The perfect send off that I wanted, without a penis in sight (well maybe 1).

We started off the weekend in true style, by finalizing the wedding style…

First was my hair trail which turned out perfectly, after playing round with a couple of different styles. I was so happy with the end product (not so happy on Monday when I tried to wash out my dreaded mess of 3 day old hairspray, grass and spa remnants though- this I don’t recommend)

Then it was the makeup by the lovely and very, very talented Amber Haldane, who swept in, and turned my melting face into a stunning bride in a mere 40minutes! She knew exactly the look that I wanted from my very vague ‘ideas’ (umm.. pretty.. romantic? Dramatic… not too dramatic..) Can’t wait to see her true magic on the day, if this was just the trial!

Then popped the champers and we were clambering into the Bridesmaid Dresses,  and my wedding dress- nothing like getting your arse in the face of your best buddies, who don’t even bat an eyelid to show you what true friendship is!

The whole look is exactly what I wanted, AND we sorted out the Bridesmaid Dress issue. Sometimes the simplest answers are right in front of you all along… Not telling how- you’ll just have to wait!

All in all it was an epic week, exactly what I needed before being thrown into Wedding overdrive this week… Not long now!

Carried away blog

I'm getting married to my childhood sweetheart in Feb 2010. We live in our own home in Auckland, along with our 3 adorable, time consuming Meows. I'm creative, opinionated, indecisive, organised, imaginative, a little crazy and not very good at keeping quiet about things that excite me... so this is going to be my perfect playground!
