The Vow is based on the true story of a woman who through a car accident loses all memory of ever being in love with her husband, or even ever meeting him.
Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) plays the lead role of Paige, opposite her is Channing Tatum (Dear John) as her loyal hubby Leo, tasked with trying to make his wife fall in love with him all over again.
The Vow has all the hallmarks of a cheesy, missable Hollywood button-pusher, and don’t get me wrong, the clichés are ever-present.
But the chemistry between our two star-crossed lovers, plus a couple of classy turns from seasoned pros Sam Neill and Jessica Lange, made The Vow far less of a cringe-worthy yawn than anticipated.
Three stars.
