It was the end of the road for Eden Roberts on The X Factor NZ last night after she was voted off in the first of the show's elimination episodes.
The audience at home had decided Roberts' version of 'Jolene' was one of the least impressive of Sunday night's performances, so she went head to head with L.O.V.E to fight for the right to continue for another week.
She hit the stage with her guitar once again and sang an original song that was not only beautiful, but proved what she has to offer as an artist.
But it wasn't enough. The majority of the judges decided that L.O.V.E had more of a chance of winning, disappointing Roberts' mentor Daniel Bedingfield.
"Eden is simply amazing," he said. "A true artist. It's incredible to have this chance to discover a true balladeer. I am very grateful."
Roberts was thankful for her X Factor experience.
"I've learned so much," she said. "I've met so many incredible people, and I did what I came to do. It was such an amazing journey."
I was expecting Fletcher Mills to make the bottom two, but he was safe.
Also on the show, judge Ruby Frost performed her latest single live as did Willie Moon. Moon's performance was great although he had a head flick a velociraptor would be proud of.
