The 'new normal' in Christchurch

In Christchurch no-one has seen normal in a while.

There is a new normal.

The cityscape is being devoured by dinosaur-like diggers, and is filled with broken roads and warning signs.

There is no city for anyone.

The new normal means no inner city gyms. It is group training in the park in the twilight.

In High Street they are still locked out of their livelihoods, yet the city brims with a shared camaraderie.

At the Addington Coffee Co-op business is booming – simply being open is their point of difference.

Reporter Natasha Utting explores the new normal in the garden city.
