Jim Anderton - please stand for mayor in Dunedin! We need someone like you
Suggestion, when you interview people like the Mayor and Jim Anderton, common courtesy says you should give them a far chance to answer the qustion you have put to them before you put another question or inteject. We want to hear their point of view not yours!!!
There should be a national standard for letter boxes but there is a proper way of implementing these instead of bullying individuals with threats of refusal of mail delivery in just two weeks. Draft a proper standard or get NZ Standards to do it and give the whole country twelve months to comply and get all district councils to include this in their building consent check list. Problem solved. Whom ever wrote the letter is not the sort of representative we expect from the company given the responsibilty of ensuring the security and privacy of the nations mail. Perhaps a few lessons in customer relations wouldn't go a miss!!! Do NZ Post's mail boxes comply with their standards? I think not and is this hypocrisy?
It would seem that NZ Post has decided that standards must be set and be complied. In the U.S. the postal service tells you how high the box can be, how far from the street, what size the box and what lettering must be and cannot be on it. Additionally only items that have been paid and processed through the postal service is allowed in the box.
Get with the program mate,30 years ago when you went to get a WOF for your car all you really had to worry abour was tyres/brakes and lights. But due to more cars been on the road and the higher rate of crashes and other road accidents your WOF now imcompasses a whole range of compliences for your motor vehicle. Now tell me this,if you hadnt complied with the WOF changes drove around in a dangerous car is this ok?so how is it ok for you to not complie with the NZ post recommendations? its not rocket science.
There are SO many people who share Warwicks view. People who insist on making mountains out of molehills and looking like complete idiots in the process. So it's been fine for 16 years? Times change! Health and safety has improved and sometimes the public are asked to comply! Get with the program!!! Clearly Warwick is so focused on his own inconvenience that he's blinded to the bigger picture.
Looks like the letterbox isn't even secured. I agree with Graham, anyhow the odd low box not a problem.. its the junk that gets stuffed into them on a daily basis before we arrive. Spell it slowly then the penny will drop.
$850 to raise the mail box??? what are the bricks made of gold? Also he states the only options are pay $850 to raise it, or receive no mail. For about $100 from Bunnings you can get a new mailbox and stand that you can easily install yourself.
Astounding - Warwick is quoted as saying it could cost up to $850.00 to bring his letterbox to a reasonable height. Rubbish!!!All he needs two or three extra layers of bricks on his existing letterbox stand.Holy hell, I'd lay a few bricks for half of that...
poor postie-get rid of nz post and invent a new postal system-and then all the posties can re-apply for a new job-where they dont have to bend, pedal, work on saturdays, work in the rain-or horrors of horrors-deliver mail!
